BABETTE Bordeaux Red 2016 (60% Cab Franc, 30% Cab Sauv & 10% Merlot)
Produced from the grapes grown in the Darling, Stellenbosch and Constantia Valleys,
barrel fermented and matured for 15 months and made at Steenberg Cellars in the
Constantia Wine Valley, the second vintage of Andre’s Rousseau Wines Bordeaux Red
continues to reflect his passion for red wines.
TASTING NOTES (by Allan Mullins)
“A bright ruby colour. The 2016 vintage has the delicious fruit sweetness of the
previous vintage, with loads of crushed berries. A serious palate with winning
drinkability factor and ripe tannins. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings blackcurrant,
cassis, chocolate and liquorice, while the Cabernet Franc adds graphite and unmistakable minerality. Softened by the Merlot, it all ties together as an exceptional blend.
I was most impressed with this wine.”
Enjoy with ribeye steak and a creamy mushroom or black pepper sauce.
Will age beautifully; very drinkable now or keep for 6 years.
